A Day of Compassion, Community, and Conservation

The UU Animal Ministry of Houston recently enjoyed a wonderful day together that reflected our shared values of compassion for all beings.

We began the day with brunch at Kin Café, located inside the beautiful Asia Society Texas Center. Kin Café’s menu is entirely vegetarian, with approximately 80% of its offerings also being vegan, making it a perfect destination for our group. By choosing delicious plant-based meals, we put our commitment to ethical and compassionate eating into practice while enjoying great conversation and each other’s company.

That afternoon, many of us gathered again to experience the inspiring 3D film Wild Rescue, which tells the remarkable story of wildlife rehabilitation efforts in Santa Barbara, California. The film highlighted the dedication of veterinarians, wildlife rehabilitators, and volunteers who work tirelessly to rescue, heal, and return injured wild animals to their natural habitats. It was both educational and uplifting, reminding us that compassion extends beyond our companion animals to all of the creatures with whom we share this planet.

One of the greatest joys of the day was simply spending time together. Events like these strengthen the friendships within our Animal Ministry while reinforcing the values that bring us together: kindness, stewardship, and respect for all living beings.

We loved seeing so many Animal Ministry members join us for these social events and look forward to sharing many more opportunities to learn, connect, and celebrate our commitment to creating a more compassionate world for animals.
