October 10th – take action for egg laying hens

Join the Humane League on Friday October 10th at 12 pm. Meet the team at Ginger Mule in the heights. Lunch is provided. More details here.

We’re protesting at Choice Hotels because the company has failed to follow through on its promise to eliminate one of the worst forms of animal cruelty in its supply chain. In 2020, Choice pledged to source 100% cage-free eggs by 2025, acknowledging that hens confined in cramped wire cages suffer immensely—unable to spread their wings, move freely, or engage in natural behaviors. Yet with that deadline fast approaching, thousands of hens supplying Choice Hotels are still trapped in cages. While the company highlights progress in a few managed locations, the majority of its franchised hotels continue to source eggs from caged hens.

Choice Hotels markets itself as a socially responsible brand, but its lack of transparency and slow implementation betray that image. Protesters are demanding that Choice take immediate, meaningful action to end the use of caged eggs across all its hotels, globally. As one of the largest hotel chains in the world, Choice has the power—and the responsibility—to lead the industry toward more humane practices. Until the company honors its commitment and ensures no hen in its supply chain is confined in a cage, we will continue to raise our voices and call for accountability.
