This fall, the First UU Animal Ministry and friends at First Unitarian Universalist Church of Houston came together for a simple but meaningful act of kindness—collecting towels and blankets for animals in need.
Thanks to the generosity of our congregation and community, we didn’t just fill the donation bin… we filled it to overflowing! Members dropped off everything from cozy fleece throws to sturdy bath towels, each one destined to bring warmth and comfort to a dog, cat, or other rescued animal waiting for a forever home.
When the donations were delivered, the Houston SPCA shared their gratitude. These supplies are always in high demand, helping staff and volunteers keep animals safe, warm, and cared for during their recovery and adoption journey. What might seem like an ordinary towel or blanket to us can mean security, comfort, and healing to an animal in transition.
This effort is a beautiful reminder of the impact we can make when we join together. Every folded blanket, every stacked towel, became part of a larger story of compassion. And in true First UU spirit, our overflowing bin showed just how much love our community has for animals and for those who dedicate their lives to protecting them.
Thank you to everyone who donated! Your generosity made a real difference for the Houston SPCA and the animals they serve.
